ssj Kickstarters Program Kickstarters Kids learn best when they are having fun and Kickstarters delivers just that! Kickstarters Program Kickstarters is designed for boys and girls born between 01/01/2018 and 6/30/2020. Our program draws on the research-based principles outlined by US Soccer. Players develop skills while playing games that require each of them to have a ball at their feet for most of the training sessions, and more touches on the ball = more skill development! Kickstarters consists of two practice sessions during the week and a “game” on Saturday. Practice days will be Mon/Wed, Tue/Thu or Wed/Fri. Practice times are usually between 5:00-6:00pm. If you have a preference of which practice days, please note this on your registration form. You may request to play with a friend if they are in the same age group. Kickstarters is Coed. NO REQUESTS ARE GUARANTEED On Game Days, each team will play small sided games against another SSJ team that will allow them to show off their skills and start to develop the understanding and intuition needed to be ultimately successful. There are no referees at this age. By having small sided games, the players will have more touches on the ball, make decisions, evaluate the results of those decisions, and over time will develop a solid understanding of the tactical aspects of the game. Flexible practice times making it easier to fit your schedule Standardized Age Appropriate Curriculum and Training Methodology Focus on Individual Skill Development (while having fun) Parent Participation opportunities Volunteer coaches are needed. - Lexie 1 | Mvla San Jose
Lexie Lee Lexie grew up in East San Jose, attending Noble Elementary and Piedmont Middle School. Since she was 5 years old, she has played club soccer at NVYSL, PAC, San Jose Surf, and MVLA San Jose. Lexie was a varsity player at Piedmont Hills High School. Currently, she is studying engineering at West Valley College. Lexie has been with Jodi for 3 years, both playing and coaching for her. Lexie’s favorite soccer memory was her junior year of high school soccer. As a Piedmont Hills varsity player, she enjoyed the close-knit bond between all the girls. She fondly remembers the team remaining undefeated for 12 consecutive games and how she cried while making a speech at the end-of-the-season banquet. She began coaching after Jodi asked her to train the MVLASJ 2008 team in winter 2021. From there she became an assistant coach for the MVLASJ HSG team and later, Jodi gave her the opportunity to help coach the 2012 Blue, 2013 Blue, and 2013 White teams. Her current teams include the 2013 Blue, 2013 White, 2014 Blue, and 2014 White. Seeing how happy the 2013 Blue players were when they won league was her favorite coaching memory. Lexie's coaching is influenced by what she learned growing up. She likes to teach players simple things she didn't learn until she got older. She enjoys when her players have fun while still working hard and loves to see the excitement players have when they master something brand-new. Lexie brings commitment and dedication to the MVLASJ coaching staff. Her favorite “accomplishments” were not missing a single soccer practice in her last two years of playing and returning to coaching just three days after getting ACL reconstruction surgery. She currently holds her USSF 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 licenses. Lexie enjoys spending time with her family, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, and playing with her dogs, Domino, Ginger, and Ivy. Her favorite soccer team is Tottenham Hotspur, and her favorite player is Son Heung-Min. Jenn Herndon and Jodi Washington are Lexie's greatest inspirations in her coaching career. She's thankful for the relationships she's created with players, parents, and other coaches.
