  • Jodi 1 | Mvla San Jose

Jodi Washington Jodi is a California native who grew up in East San Jose, attending Berryessa Elementary and Piedmont Middle Schools. With no girls team at Piedmont Middle, she played for the boys side before heading to Independence High School where she was a 4-year Varsity player. Jodi played her club soccer for North Valley Eclipse and San Jose Thunder before finishing out her playing career at Cal. Having spent time at the youth regional and national team levels, Jodi’s work ethic and intensity are two key traits she brings into leading her teams and staff. She was a long tenured coach at: North Valley Youth Soccer League, Leland High School, Central Valley Youth Soccer League, the San Jose Earthquakes, built the girls side at San Jose Surf before finding a home with MVLA San Jose. Jodi is passionate about player development, building a lifelong love of the game, and creating personal bonds with all of her kids. The environment she creates is competitive but fun. Her inspiration and passion to coach comes from two places: high school coach Becky Spina and former player Hannah Welker who tragically lost her life at the age of 12 while playing for Jodi. Between 5am and 8am, you’ll find Jodi with her pitbulls Merlot and Hendrix juggling between the Peloton bike, Tread, and PL or LaLiga matches. From 8a-4p she’ll be found attempting to change the status quo at her tech company. When the sun sets, you’ll find her on the pitch. She and her husband Jason have been married for ~30 years and have two kids Kai and Maile. Jodi holds her National "B" License, serves as Executive and Girls Director at MVLA San Jose, Diversity Champion at MVLA Soccer Club, and Co-Chairs the Black Coaches and Football for All Committees for NorCal Premier League.
